“Sedangkan Lidah Lagi Tergigit” is a Malay expression which loosely translates to “Even loved ones bicker and quarrel” Rendered in Jawi script, the Person-Arabic script adapted to write the Malay language between 1300AD to 1960AD in what is now Malaysia,Singapore, Indonesia, Southern Thailand, The Philippines, and Brunei before adopting the Latin script for ease of printing and standardisation of the Malay language spelling.
The vessel was part of my solo exhibition “When Will You Listen to Me?” held in Zig Zag Gallery, Kalamunda, Western Australia in 2025.
